Our Story

Commercial rigour. Psychological insight.

Strategy Max pairs three decades of commercial and boardroom experience with a coach's understanding of how people actually think, decide and change — grounded in psychology, so the advice reflects both business reality and the science of behaviour.

Richard McKenzie

Strategy Consulting, Mentoring & Executive Coaching

Richard has spent 30 years advising and running consumer, retail and technology-enabled businesses. He began his career at OC&C Strategy Consultants in London, becoming the firm's first Partner in mainland China and building its Shanghai office into a highly successful practice with a strong local and international team. He later co-led the successful transition of that business to Oliver Wyman, going on to lead Oliver Wyman's Consumer & Retail practice across Asia Pacific — advising a broad range of clients on growth and digital strategy, and spending increasing time on the application of advanced analytics across China and the wider region.

Richard joined Ocado Solutions in 2019, serving as Chief Commercial Officer and President, Europe and Asia Pacific. He led the commercial strategy behind the company's international grocery technology partnerships, signing major new agreements with leading retailers across Korea, Japan, Poland and Spain. He went on to found and lead Veloq as Chief Executive Officer — a next-generation e-grocery technology platform born from Rohlik Group's success, partnering with leading retailers to enable profitable, scalable online grocery operations through automation-first fulfilment, precision last-mile logistics and grocery-native e-commerce.

Richard now advises boards and executive teams through Strategy Max, alongside a small number of senior advisory and non-executive roles, with a particular focus on applying data and artificial intelligence to commercial value creation. He holds an MPhil and MA (First Class) from the University of Oxford, and completed Henley Business School's Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching in 2025 — bringing a formally trained coaching practice to complement three decades of board-level experience.

Dominique McKenzie

Coaching & Mentoring

Dominique's path to coaching runs through international business, education and psychology. After reading Modern Languages at the University of Oxford, she began her career on Maersk's graduate programme before becoming a Panamax dry-bulk ship broker at Howe Robinson Partners in London — coordinating cargo and vessel owners across global trade routes under the pressure of live, high-value negotiations.

She later moved into international education, serving as Development Director, Asia for the charity United World Schools in Hong Kong, building funding partnerships across Hong Kong in support of primary education in remote communities in Cambodia and Nepal. Alongside this work she completed a MSocSc in Psychology at the University of Hong Kong and later guest-lectured on the Masters in Applied Psychology programme at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Dominique began coaching professionally in Hong Kong in 2018, after completing the level 1&2 ICF and EMCC accredited training, and is a certified Motivational Maps practitioner. In Hong Kong she worked across diverse groups and ages, supporting expatriate professionals and their families through international transitions on both personal and professional levels. She coaches people at every career stage — from graduate programmes to the boardroom — through complex decisions, transitions and change, working to the principle that performance and wellbeing rise as negative interference falls.
